Herefordshire & Worcestershire Chamber of Commerce’s (HWCC) complete digital transformation from a legacy, on-prem system, into a fully cloud-based, D365 environment.

TL;DR

HWCC wanted to digitally transform the organization, moving all their system customizations & client data from an on-prem Dynamics CRM 2011 server to a cloud-based Dynamics 365 solution.

Each aspect of HWCC’s new D365 System, grouped by the differing departments using it, was delivered in an iterative, agile fashion across a nine-month period.

Each of the separate nine phases of the project included a period of playing back the changes to HWCC and gathering and completing any additional fixes and changes pointed out in the sessions.

Their existing integration to their finance system (Exchequer), eCert certification system and website integration, was also upgraded to compliment the new Dynamic 365 system.

Herefordshire & Worcestershire Chamber of Commerce are a not-for-profit organization that exists to support businesses in the two counties. Their role is to ensure businesses reach their individual potential to collectively increase local economic growth, to support local communities and people. With the support of a national and global Chamber network, together they are ‘Where Business Belongs’. Their website explains that, whilst the scale and nature of what they do has grown and adapted since their founding, their core mission has remained unchanged… to strengthen the position of their members and ensure local businesses have a voice on a national scale. The growth and prosperity of local organizations has always been key to sustainable communities, which is why HWCC strives to provide comprehensive support and value adds to any business in Herefordshire or Worcestershire, no matter the size or stage of their development.

What Was Delivered

When HWCC and FormusPro first started working together, they were using Dynamics CRM 2011, storing everything on a server, on-premises.

This obviously made extending the system to improve operational efficiency, or benefit from new, cloud-based technologies, difficult.

That’s why a full upgrade of their systems, and all their stored data, was needed.

After consulting with all stakeholders, FormusPro migrated HWCC’s internal systems to Microsoft Dynamics 365 in the cloud, including all of the existing, bespoke integrations they were using, such as the one from their website to their finance system.

To better future proof the organization, all of that data is now stored within Microsoft’s Dataverse platform… meaning all of their day-to-day operations are much more streamlined, and any new system enhancements can be performed with the greatest of ease.
