FormusPro were tasked with creating a custom model driven app for project management, with Power BI reporting integrated into it.

TL;DR

RFL Property Services were running all their projects on separate spreadsheets and approached FormusPro to unify them all in Microsoft’s Dataverse, with a model-driven app to handle all their project management needs going forward.

The app will manage around 70 ongoing projects, including change management, resource management, risk management and financials.

There’s eleven, separate, Power BI reports connected to the data.

There’s also a custom timesheet system linked to their resource planning system.

Company Information

RFL Property Services were founded back in 2017 to provide innovative solutions to Royal Free London NHS Trusts healthcare estate. They provide services ranging from master planning, business case writing and review, hard and soft FM, property management, space planning, capital project delivery in all forms, relocations and commissioning, healthcare and space planning services and estate management. Originally just working with Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust, they’ve since extended their services, now covering sites across North London, Central London, the Northern Home Counties and the East of England. Their stated mission is to “connect people who care through world class spaces” In 2019, they also established a consultancy function to better share their skills and experience with other NHS and public sector partners.

What Was Delivered

RFL Property Services provide multiple solutions to their clients, from planning to delivery, right across the healthcare sector.

However, the management of all of these separate projects was being carried out in separate spreadsheets, creating knowledge and data siloes, and making quality control, let alone any kind of continuous improvement, much more difficult than it needed to be.

After extensive research, an internal decision was made to move their system into Microsoft’s Dataverse and leverage the extensive capabilities of the Power Platform.

FormusPro were approached to create a custom project management, model driven app using Microsoft’s Power Apps, with Power BI reporting integrated throughout.

Phase one of the project was to scope everything out, including RFL Property Services internal systems and data, and then build and deploy the solution, with Phase 2 of the project planned for enhancements after it had gone live.
