Anthony Nolan NonProfit CRM

It’s been 14+ years since we first embarked on a digital transformation journey to Dynamics 365 together. With a range of implementations and solutions over the years, this transformation is constantly evolving.

Anthony Nolan, a leading stem cell research charity, wanted to move their Dynamics 2016 On-Premise solution into Dynamics 365 and chose FormusPro as their Microsoft Partner.

It’s been fourteen years (and counting) now.

And, with a huge range of solutions implemented over the years, their transformation is continuously improving.

14+ Years Of Partnership

Having such a strong relationship, developed over time as their strategic Microsoft Partner, allows us to know their technical stack inside and out, giving us the knowledge to continuously improve their estate.

Reduced Cost And Complexity

By removing the legacy on-premise infrastructure, Anthony Nolan created a reduction in their costs. Significantly reducing the time spent maintaining their servers, alongside the cost of the infrastructure.

Real World Impact

Through Microsoft technology, Anthony Nolan can better connect patients with potential stem cell donors, helping find the best possible match, wherever they are in the world.

Objective:

Anthony Nolan partnered with FormusPro to modernise their CRM platform and support their long-term digital transformation. With an ageing on-premise system creating cost and complexity, they needed a more flexible, future-ready solution.

The Problem:

Anthony Nolan’s existing Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2016 platform had become difficult to manage.

  • High infrastructure and maintenance costs
  • Increasing pressure on internal resources
  • Limited flexibility to evolve and scale
  • Inefficiencies impacting teams across the organisation

They knew moving to the cloud wasn’t just a technical upgrade—it was the first step towards a more connected, efficient way of working.

Solution:

FormusPro supported a full migration to Microsoft Dynamics 365, using the Microsoft FastTrack programme to ensure a smooth transition.

We didn’t just lift and shift. Existing solutions, integrations and processes were carefully migrated, key functionality was enhanced to take advantage of cloud capabilities and performance, scalability and usability were improved across the platform

Alongside the technology, we focused on people. We supported the recruitment of an in-house CRM team, delivered tailored training to build internal capability, and continued to provide ongoing support as the platform evolves

This means Anthony Nolan now have the skills and confidence for their system, with us alongside them.

Impact:

Moving to the cloud delivered immediate and lasting benefits.

Anthony Nolan

The UK-based NonProfit Anthony Nolan collaborates with other stem cell donor registers worldwide to match people with blood cancer with donors whose stem cells can literally save lives.

Since 1974 they’ve been leading the way in unlocking the power of stem cells found inside everyone to save and transform the lives of every patient that needs them.

In March of 2025 the number of stem cell donors on their register was at over 2.4 million.

Anthony Nolan has revamped its stem cell donor management systems and bringing a level of modernity and productivity to a global network of stem cell registries.

It now uses Microsoft cloud services, Dynamics 365, Azure, and Microsoft 365, to ensure patients can find the best donor match, no matter where they are in the world.

What The Client Said

“If we can go more efficiently, go a bit faster, we increase the chances of a life-saving transplant. We also reduce cost, which means we can recruit more people to join the stem cell donor register and do more research.”

“With most of the systems now running in the cloud, including all of our integration software, there is very little need for internal infrastructure and has freed up time to focus their efforts on project work to continue to provide new user functionality.”
