Support For 1.x Of Azure Functions Runtime Ends 14th September, 2026

Microsoft warns that people need to migrate to version 4.x of the Azure Functions runtime before 14th September 2026

On 14 September 2026, support for version 1.x of the Azure Functions runtime will end.

Whilst you’ll still be able to use version 1.x past then… it’s important to realise Microsoft will no longer be supporting it or releasing new software or security updates.

If your organisation wants to continue on with a supported version, you’ll need to start a migration process before then to version 4.x of the Azure Functions runtime, which includes benefits such as:

  • Support for additional target framework versions, including .NET Framework 4.8, .NET 6, and .NET 7.
  • Ability to work with the latest Azure SDKs.
  • Enhanced monitoring options.
  • Improved reliability, throughput, and cold-start performance.

What Do I Need To Do Now?

To make sure all your function apps are still supported (and fully secure) post 14th September, 2026, you’ll need to migrate over to 4.x Azure Function runtime before then.

Microsoft have released instructions on what to do >> but as always, FormusPro will be happy to help if you’re not sure where to start.
