Microsoft’s 2025 Release Wave 2 for the Power Platform is packed with updates to help organisations work faster, smarter, and more securely.
The updates below are all focused on giving people and AI agents better tools to analyse data, build solutions and automate tasks with confidence.
Whether you’re already working with Power Apps, Power Automate, Power Pages or the Dataverse… or even looking to make your first move into AI-powered automation… these updates will make it easier to turn your ideas into working solutions.
These release waves come twice a year, every year.
One in April and the second in September but we always try to bring you the news of what’sc coming early.
Each wave has three stages…
For the most part, you’ll see the functionality become available to you in the general availability, but in some cases, you may get early access to the features.
Power Apps is putting collaboration between people and AI front and centre.
There’s a brand-new Agent Feed to help you supervise what your AI agents are doing. Plus, you can now bring a business challenge straight to Plan Designer, describe what you need, and it will help build apps, dashboards, even Power BI reports.
The new App Agent makes it possible to create fully connected experiences from a simple image or description.
What this means for you? Less manual building, more rapid outcomes with AI helping at every stage.
If you’re using Power Pages to build secure, data-driven portals, then the new updates make this even quicker and smarter.
Low-code makers and pro developers alike will benefit from faster site-building tools and new AI-driven security insights that help keep sites secure without adding workload.
What this means for you? Build intelligent, secure websites faster for employees, customers, and partners.
Power Automate is continuing to evolve with AI at its core.
Going forward you can expect even more intelligent features like advanced approvals, generative actions that suggest what’s next, and AI-powered document processing.
The Automation Centre and updated Power Platform admin centre now bring better governance, observability, and security controls…essential for scaling automation in larger environments.
What that means for you? More control, less risk, and more confidence when rolling out automation at scale.
The Dataverse is the beating heart of Power Platform and now comes with smarter AI-ready search through Dataverse Search and tools like Dataverse for Agents to support AI-driven experiences.
New features include the Model Context Protocol (MCP) Server, helping your AI solutions understand and work with your enterprise data more effectively.
What this means for you? Build scalable, data-driven solutions faster with fewer technical headaches.
