The Local Government Association partnered with FormusPro to replace ageing systems and manual processes with a secure, scalable and future-ready Dynamics 365 platform. The project focused on improving the management of peer data, streamlining updates and creating a better experience for both internal teams and external users.
FormusPro implemented a Microsoft Dynamics 365 solution that introduced self-service data management, secure auditing and seamless integration with external services including the Oscar API.
Today, the organisation benefits from improved data quality, stronger governance controls and a platform that continues to evolve alongside changing business requirements.
The existing solution relied on ageing code and disconnected processes that limited flexibility and increased maintenance requirements. Replacing these systems removed technical debt and reduced risk.
Peers can now manage and maintain their own information through a secure self-service portal connected directly to their contact record. This reduces the administrative burden placed on internal teams .
Historical records were deduplicated and cleansed to improve data quality and reduce inconsistencies across the organisation. Every proposed change is audited and reviewed before becoming part of the official record.
The primary objective was to modernise how the Local Government Association managed peer and professional data across the organisation. Existing processes had become fragmented and increasingly difficult to maintain.
A further objective was to improve the quality and reliability of data while ensuring users could safely manage their own information where appropriate. The organisation wanted to reduce manual administration without sacrificing governance or control.
Finally, the new platform needed to support future growth, additional functionality and ongoing development initiatives as organisational requirements evolved.
The existing legacy solution relied on custom code and manual processes that were becoming increasingly difficult to support. This created operational inefficiencies and limited the organisation’s ability to respond quickly to changing requirements.
Duplicate records and inconsistent historical data reduced confidence in reporting and search functionality. Maintaining accurate professional records required significant manual effort from internal teams.
The organisation also required a reliable way to update Oscar records and communicate changes back to the Oscar API when necessary. Existing systems lacked the flexibility and audit capabilities required to support this process effectively.
FormusPro designed and implemented a bespoke solution built on Microsoft Dynamics 365 and the wider Microsoft Power Platform. The platform centralised professional information while providing a secure and scalable foundation for future development.
Power Portals technology enabled users to securely access and manage their own information through self-service functionality linked directly to their Dynamics 365 contact record. This included password management and authenticated access controls.
The solution also introduced integration capabilities with the Oscar API, historical record deduplication and comprehensive auditing functionality. Legacy code was replaced with a modern architecture that improved maintainability and long-term scalability.
The new platform significantly improved the quality, consistency and accessibility of peer information across the organisation. Centralising records eliminated duplication and created a single trusted source of information.
Internal teams spend less time processing manual updates and correcting data issues, allowing resources to focus on higher-value activities. Users can now maintain their own information while remaining within governance controls.
Improved searchability and richer professional profiles also provide better visibility of skills, qualifications and experience, helping the organisation make more informed decisions when identifying suitable peers.
The implementation was designed as a long-term strategic platform rather than a single delivery project. As the strategic Dynamics partner, FormusPro continues to support and enhance the solution.
New modules and additional capabilities are regularly introduced to meet changing business requirements and improve user experiences. This ensures the platform continues to deliver value over time.
By building on Microsoft Dynamics 365 and Power Platform technologies, the organisation benefits from ongoing innovation and access to new capabilities as they become available.

The Little Princess Trust (LPT) identified the need for digital transformation, which would take the form of a system encompassing almost all areas of the organisation. The system needed to be intuitive, integrate, consolidate and create a sustainable and extensible solution for use well into the future.
The Duke of Edinburgh Award set a target of giving 1,000,000 young people the opportunity to participate in its life-changing programme over the next five years. Achieving this vision required efficient, scalable processes that could support growth without increasing administrative overhead.
The Soil Association was losing out on vital donation income due to a broken Gift Aid submission system that regularly failed HMRC validation checks… and gave users no clue as to why. With 20% of monthly donations stuck in limbo, they needed a fix fast. FormusPro rebuilt their process.
