Microsoft’s Nonprofit Accelerator, Fundraising & Engagement, Is Being Retired In 2026

All technical support for Fundraising & Engagement will cease as of 11:59PM Pacific Time (US) on Dec 31st, 2026

In a surprising announcement from Microsoft yesterday (15th July), it was announced that as of 11:59pm Pacific Standard Time, December 31st, 2026 (so roughly 30 months from now) their Fundraising and Engagement solution will be retired, with all technical support ceasing.

They went on to say that as of yesterday, they would also no longer be proactively selling Fundraising and Engagement to NonProfit clients, with the product being removed from all their price lists after Dec 31st this year, 2024.

“Microsoft is committed to providing affordable and relevant technology and skilling to nonprofit organizations worldwide. As we continue to innovate and enhance our technology offerings, we’re making strategic updates to our suite of solutions. Microsoft will continue providing necessary security updates but won’t make other enhancements to Fundraising and Engagement.”

Microsoft Statement

Whilst no news has yet been released on plans to replace F&E, or extend other solutions to fill the out-the-box gap it will leave, many MSP’s, FormusPro included, have over the years developed their own, customised NfP solutions to suit not-for-profit sector specific needs.

At FormusPro, we’ve developed many custom solutions for our NonProfit clients, and are excited to announce we’ve drawn upon that experience to design and develop our very own FlexNFP product as a fully-featured solution with fundraising and engagement at its heart… reach out to give it a go yourself...”

Simon Bridgwater – Head of Product Development, FormusPro

Whilst this news may be surprising to many, or concerning to those NonProfits currently using Microsoft’s Fundraising & Engagement (or were considering implementing it), the silver lining is that it’s still two and half years away, meaning you’ve plenty of time to reach out to a Microsoft partner for advice or help on where to go next.

I’m surprised at the news to retire Fundraising and Engagement as it was a great base product for NonProfit’s to build upon. FormusPro can certainly help anyone affected by this news. Microsoft’s Power Platform, CE and Business Central still remain a great choice for  NonProfits  and we can help give you the functionality that you would have had from F&E.

John Mills – Solution Architect, FormusPro

If you’re worried by the news, feel free to reach out for a no obligation chat or health check of your current Microsoft stack and we’ll happily help you now, and past the retirement of Fundraising and Engagement in 2026.
