Meet Paul Walker, Infrastructure Practice Lead at FormusPro, and discover his journey, what drives him, and the people and passions behind the role.
Hi, I’m Paul, and at the time of writing this I’ve been with FormusPro for about six months, so I still consider myself one of the newbies.
Before joining FormusPro, I founded and ran a successful professional services business focused on cloud and automation. Over the years, I worked with organisations of all sizes, from small charities through to some of the largest banks, helping them solve business challenges and get more from technology.
Today, I run the Infrastructure Practice here at FormusPro. I spend most of my time working with clients and partners, helping organisations tackle business challenges and identifying the right technology solutions.
What I enjoy most about the role is seeing happy customers. There’s a real sense of satisfaction in helping someone solve a challenge and knowing you’ve played a part in delivering a positive outcome.
It’s also one of the reasons I enjoy working at FormusPro. We have a great team, and everyone genuinely collaborates. People are always willing to share ideas, challenge thinking and work together to find the best answer. That level of teamwork makes for great solutions and ultimately better outcomes for our customers.
One of the questions I was asked for this article was what’s the coolest thing I’ve ever built with technology. The truth is, they don’t let me near the tech anymore
These days, the best thing I’ve built is this practice.
Building teams, developing capabilities and creating an environment where people can do their best work is something I’m incredibly proud of. Seeing that grow and helping customers benefit from it has been one of the most rewarding parts of my career.
Outside of work, I’ve always had a lot of energy, so I’m rarely sitting still for long.
Running and football take up a lot of my time, whilst wakeboarding is a favourite when the weather’s warm and snowboarding takes over when it’s cold.
Most importantly though, I love spending time with my family and making the most of every opportunity to be together.
And finally, to round this all off, the marketing team asked me… “if I could invite any three famous people, alive or dead, to a dinner party, who would they be and why?”
My first choice would be Jurgen Klopp. Who wouldn’t? The man absolutely oozes charisma and, as an avid Liverpool supporter, I think we’d have plenty to talk about.
Next would be Frank Skinner. I’ve listened to his podcast for years and he never fails to make me laugh.
My final guest would be Bob Mortimer. I’ve grown up with his wonderfully mad humour, and I think he’d make a brilliant dinner guest.
Although, if I’m honest, good luck getting a word in edgeways with that lot around the table.
