DofE seek to empower young people; to support them as they learn new skills, overcome obstacles, and build confidence and resilience; with a target to give 1,000,000 young people the chance to participate in their life-changing program over the next five years.


The DofE required a solution that would centralise and automate the following processes for them: Licensing, grant management and activity supplier approval through annual surveys.


We implemented Dynamics 365 CE lead to opportunity process to manage a central process in a central system, including the automation of several aspects, including licence creation and communication with the licenced organisation and DocuSign Integration. We also created a 2 way integration with another DofE system called eDofE.

Grant requests and management

These were again being done in Word and Excel documents with no central process. We automated the capture and processing of grants including DocuSign integration. Allowing grant applicants to keep track of their applications via a portal, reducing the administrative efforts and speeding up the payment of patient grants.

DofE Activity Provider Approval 

To remain a DofE supplier an annual survey is required from all third parties. We used Customer Voice to create these surveys, automated the sending and collection of the results and then also automated email chases to those who hadn’t responded. Allowing DofE to remove some of the manual tasks and increase the response rate.

DofE license and support a range of organisations including: schools, colleges, youth groups, young offender institutions, fostering agencies and hospitals to run DofE programmes for their young people and is proud to be part of The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award Foundation which supports operators in more than 130 countries and territories to deliver DofE and increase opportunities for young people.

What Was Delivered

We’ve implemented a new standalone D365 app to help manage DofE’s licensing process. Following this, we built a business process flow to guide employees through the process. With a two-way integration between Dynamics 365 and eDofE. The integration has no noticeable delay and works in real time as users enter data into either system.
